Why I Write This

I talk to finance directors, controllers, and CFOs every day. I talk to staff accountants, accounting managers, and controllers who are looking for their next role. I am a recruiter. I see both sides of the hiring conversation, and most people never do.

Candidates do not know why they were ghosted after three rounds. They do not know the company hired internally but used them to benchmark. They do not know their final round was canceled because the director found someone ten thousand dollars cheaper.

Clients do not know their best candidate accepted another offer in week four while they were still scheduling the executive interview. They do not know their compensation range is thirty thousand below market. They do not know their six round process is driving away the exact people they want.

I am in these conversations. I hear what both sides say when the other is not in the room. That is why I write this.

Austin is not just another market. It is the number two tech hub in the South, with fifty tech companies per one thousand businesses and eighty two point five tech jobs per one thousand, second only to Washington D.C. It is where companies test new hiring models, new compensation structures, new AI implementations before they roll them out nationally. What breaks here shows up in Dallas, Denver, and Atlanta six months later.

Hindsight is always 20/20. This is to get in front of it. To keep people informed who will be affected by the drastic changes taking place, before they are already behind.
